Workmanship & Manufacturer Warranties
Workmanship & Manufacturer Warranties
A roof carries two kinds of coverage: the manufacturer's warranty on the materials themselves, and a workmanship warranty covering the installation. Understanding what each one protects, and what can void it, matters as much as the roof itself. SoffitSmith by Smithbuilt Roofing installs to manufacturer specification and documents the work so that both layers of coverage stand behind your roof.
What Each Warranty Covers
- Manufacturer Warranty — Covers defects in the shingles, membrane, or metal panels themselves, as set by the maker of the material.
- Workmanship Warranty — Covers how the roof was installed, including fastening patterns, flashing details, and seam work.
- Registration — Many manufacturer warranties require the installation to be registered and documented to stay valid.
How We Document the Work
- Photo Documentation Apps (CompanyCam) — Every stage of the job is time- and location-stamped, giving you and the manufacturer a clear record of the install.
- Core Sampling Tools — Test cuts confirm deck and layer conditions before new material goes down.
- Moisture Meters — Readings across the deck help confirm the roof went on dry, as most warranties require.
Warranty Support
We also assist with warranty registration and claims support, so paperwork does not become the reason a valid claim gets delayed.
