Scupper, Drain & Internal Drainage
Scupper, Drain & Internal Drainage
Flat and low-slope roofs depend on scuppers, internal drains, and properly pitched surfaces to move water off before it has a chance to pond. When a drain clogs, a scupper corrodes, or a roof field settles out of pitch, water sits — and standing water is one of the fastest ways to shorten the life of a membrane roof. This service covers inspection, clearing, repair, and replacement of the drainage components built into your flat roof system.
What We Check and Clear
- Internal drains — cleared with drain snakes built for internal roof drains, stopping ponding at the source.
- Scupper openings — inspected and repaired so water exits the roof edge instead of backing up.
- Membrane seams around drains — re-welded with hot-air welders where TPO or PVC has pulled away, then rolled and probed by hand to confirm the seal.
- Roof pitch and low spots — measured with laser distance meters and levels to confirm the field still drains the way it was designed to.
Finding Hidden Water Damage
- Moisture meters — direct readings that separate a wet deck from an old stain.
- Core sampling — test cuts near drains to see how many layers are present and whether insulation underneath has taken on water.
- Drying equipment — submersible pumps, air movers and dehumidifiers used where standing water has already reached the structure.
