Flat Roof Puncture & Seam Repair
Flat Roof Puncture & Seam Repair
Flat and low-slope roofs fail differently than sloped ones — a single puncture from foot traffic, hail, or a dropped tool, or a seam that has opened along a lap, can let water travel far from the point of entry before a stain ever shows up inside. SoffitSmith by Smithbuilt Roofing repairs these membrane systems in place, addressing the damaged area and the surrounding membrane so the roof goes back to being one continuous, watertight surface.
Finding the Damage
- Thermal Imaging — drone and handheld infrared cameras locate trapped moisture and hidden leak paths without walking the entire field.
- Moisture Meters — direct readings distinguish a genuinely wet deck from an old stain that no longer indicates active intrusion.
- Core Sampling — test cuts show how many layers are present and where wet insulation needs to come out.
Repairing the Membrane
- Hot-Air Welding — TPO and PVC seams are fused into a continuous sheet rather than patched over.
- Torch-Applied Detail Work — modified bitumen sections are heat-sealed with controlled propane torch application.
- Seam Rollers & Probes — every repaired seam is rolled flat and then probed by hand before the work is called finished.
Each stage is photographed and time-stamped, so you can see the same documentation the crew relies on for the finished repair.
