Drip Edge, Flashing & Valleys

Drip edge, flashing, and valleys are the small metal details that decide whether water leaves a roof cleanly or finds its way into the deck below. Drip edge directs runoff away from the fascia, flashing seals the joints around chimneys, walls, and penetrations, and valleys carry the heaviest concentration of water on the whole roof. Homeowners typically look at these details after a leak turns up near a wall or ceiling, during a broader roof inspection, or as part of preparing a roof for re-roofing or storm season.

What We Look At

  • Drip Edge Condition — checking that edge metal is continuous, properly lapped, and still directing water clear of the fascia.
  • Flashing Details — inspecting the metal around chimneys, walls, and roof penetrations for gaps, rust, or old sealant that has failed.
  • Valley Performance — confirming valleys are shedding water instead of channeling it under adjacent shingles or panels.

How We Work

  • Handheld Infrared Cameras & Moisture Meters — used to trace whether water tracking through a flashing or valley has reached the deck.
  • Portable Sheet Metal Brakes — bend custom flashing and counter flashing on site to match the exact roof profile.
  • Tin Snips & Hand Seamers — shape flashing details by hand in tight spots a machine cannot reach.
  • Caulking Guns & Heat Guns — apply sealant at the right temperature so flashing joints bond and hold.
