Chimney Flashing, Crown & Cap
Chimney Flashing, Crown & Cap
The flashing, crown and cap around a chimney are what keep water from tracking down the masonry and into the roof deck below. Metal flashing seals the joint where the chimney meets the roof plane, counter flashing tucks into the masonry to shed water over the base flashing, and the crown or cap sheds rain off the top of the stack itself. When any of these fail, water finds the gap between chimney and roof long before a stain ever shows up inside.
What We Address
- Base & step flashing — the metal at the roof-to-chimney joint, reformed or replaced where it has pulled loose or corroded.
- Counter flashing — the upper piece set into the masonry, refit so it overlaps the base flashing correctly.
- Crown & cap repair — the top surface and cap, checked for cracks and gaps that let water into the chimney structure.
- Sealant renewal — joints and seams recaulked where old sealant has dried out or separated.
How We Work On Site
- Portable Sheet Metal Brakes — used to bend custom flashing and counter flashing to fit your chimney exactly.
- Tin Snips & Hand Seamers — for hand-cut, hand-formed flashing detail work where a machine cannot reach.
- Caulking Guns & Heat Guns — applying sealant at the right temperature so it bonds and holds.
- Moisture Meters — direct readings that show whether water has already reached the deck around the chimney.
Every stage is logged with time- and location-stamped photos through our CompanyCam documentation, so you can see the condition found and the repair made.
